Growth is a funny thing. It’s a journey of discovery, change, and sometimes, a lot of growing pains. For us at Revyz, our journey has been driven by a simple mission: to empower you, the Atlassian administrator, with the tools you need to manage, secure, optimize your Jira and Confluence instances and be compliant to the regulations your company adheres too.
Today, we're thrilled to announce a significant milestone in that journey. We are changing the name of our Atlassian apps from Data Manager for Jira and Data Manager for Confluence to Command Center for Jira and Command Center for Confluence respectively.
This isn't just a simple name change; it's a reflection of how far our apps have come. To understand why, let's take a quick look back.
The Evolution of a Platform
Our story began in October 2022. We launched our very first apps, Revyz Backup & Restore for Jira. Our focus was singular: provide robust, reliable data protection. We quickly saw how critical this was for all Atlassian cloud customers, and we were proud to offer a solid solution for a fundamental need.
But as we worked with more administrators, we realized their needs were evolving. Data protection was just the first piece of a much larger puzzle. You needed to not only protect your data but also manage your site's health, understand user activity, and control the complexity of your configurations.
In 2023, as we added more capabilities like configuration management and insights, we recognized the "Backup & Restore" name no longer captured the full scope of our apps. We renamed them Data Manager for Jira, a name that better represented their broader role in managing your Jira data environment. In January of 2024 we launched Data Manager for Confluence, and kept it consistent with the more evolved Jira app.
Now, here we are in 2025. Both our apps have grown beyond even the "Data Manager" title. They have matured into a single, comprehensive platform that addresses a wide range of critical use cases in the security and compliance realm. What was once a simple data tool is now the central hub for your most critical administrative tasks focussed on security and compliance.
A Single Solution for Your Biggest Challenges
Traditionally, the Atlassian marketplace has been a land of point solutions. An app for backing up, another for managing configurations, and yet another for analyzing user licenses. While these apps solve specific problems, they create a new, larger one: app sprawl and not to forget the direct and indirect costs of the app (indirect costs included procurement costs, training etc..)
App sprawl leads to a host of headaches. You're dealing with multiple vendors, managing numerous licenses, and struggling with incompatible interfaces. This fragmentation increases your risk profile and makes it difficult to maintain a consistent security and compliance posture. It also takes a bite out of your budget with multiple, often overlapping, subscription fees.
This is where our apps' new name, Command Center, really shines. We’ve combined what were once disparate point solutions into a single, cohesive platform. Now, instead of installing a handful of apps, you can install one to handle a comprehensive suite of needs, providing more value for your money and significantly simplifying your vendor management and security posture among other things.
Let's look at the full scope of what the app helps you with today.
For Jira administrators, our platform provides a unified toolset for:
- Configuration and Security: Manage your site's health and security with features like Configuration Manager, Configuration Drift Analyzer, Audit Logs Backup, and Third-Party App Backup. You can track changes, prevent unwanted modifications, and ensure your site is secure and compliant.
- Data Protection and Management: Our core Backup & Granular Restore functionality remains a central pillar. We've also added Data Deletion Log and Data Cloning, including the ability to clone Assets across different sites, giving you complete control over your data’s lifecycle.
- Insights and Optimization: Understand your site better with Attachment Insights and User License Insights. These tools help you optimize performance and manage costs by giving you a clear view of your data usage and user licenses.
For Confluence administrators, while configuration complexity is different, our app still delivers powerful functionality:
- Data Protection and Management: Just like in Jira, our Backup & Granular Restore and Data Deletion Log features are essential for safeguarding your critical knowledge base.
- Security and Insights: The app provides Audit Logs Backup for compliance and helps you gain insights into your site with Attachment Insights and User License Insights. You can even clone data across sites, streamlining your content management workflows.
Here is a cost comparison of what the Command Center for Jira has to offer vs. the other point apps in the Atlassian Marketplace, lets take an 1,000 user instance of Jira as an example, let's look at all the apps that are needed
Appfire's Configuration Manager ($14,120): Provides basic configuration management but lacks features like comprehensive impact analysis or version control in the cloud.
Appfox's Optimizer ($4,220): Effective for site health, but operates in isolation, making it difficult to link performance to changes or revert them.
CodeFortyNine's Deep Clone ($6,010): Handles basic data cloning but misses crucial features like intelligent Asset cloning, template management, and audit logs for compliance.
Eisonesoft’ Smart Configuration: Documentation for Jira ($1,675): Addresses configuration documentation, but does not include change management documentation.
BloomPeak’s Restore Deleted Issues ($2,550): Helps track deletions and restores issues without attachments and lands up a potential data loss scenario as it is missing configuration.
Rewind’s Rewind Backups for Jira ($19,375): Focuses only on issue data backup, and misses out configuration management, which could lead to data loss scenarios.
TwinIT’s Insight Assets Backup & Migration ($11,335): Helps with Assets data backup with no visibility into Asset configuration.
Total direct cost of the solution would be over $59,000 per year (not counting the indirect costs) vs. Revyz’s Command Center for Jira being $24,320 seems like a steal to me!
Why "Command Center"?
Given all this functionality, we had to find a name that truly encapsulated what the apps have become: a central, powerful hub for every critical administrative task.
The name "Command Center" comes from our personal history and passion. My co-founder, Sanket, and I have a background in information security. We understand that in the world of data, control is everything. My personal experience, having grown up on military bases, also shaped this perspective. In a command center, every piece of information is gathered, analyzed, and acted upon from a single point of authority. It’s a place of control, security, and precise execution.
We believe this name perfectly reflects the ethos of the modern Atlassian administrator. You need a single, reliable place to secure your data, monitor your site's health, and maintain compliance. Our apps are no longer just tools; they are your go-to command center for all your data security and compliance needs.
This name change is more than just a label. It's our promise to you that we will continue to build a single, unified platform that addresses your most pressing needs, reduces your app footprint, and provides you with the ultimate control over your Atlassian instances (I am perhaps giving you a sneak peak of what is cooking up on our end). This is just the beginning, and we look forward to adding even more functionality in the years to come.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being a part of our journey.
